About The Founder & Executive Director
MR ERIC ODURO ESQ
Mr. Oduro currently serves as The Founder & Executive Director of the Chartered Institute of Tax, Law, and Forensic Accountants, Ghana. Mr. Oduro was also the Secretary to the Council. Mr. Oduro’s role as Executive Director is the culmination of a successful career, marked by his induction as a Fellow and his promotion from Executive Secretary to Executive Director, which was celebrated during the Ghana Ethics and Forensic Excellence Award (GEFE Awards) in August 2023. The induction ceremony was led by the President of the Institute, Mr. Kwaku Nkrumah, and Vice President Mr. Stephen Osei. The ceremony was a defining moment in Mr. Oduro’s career and took place at GNAT Hall, Accra City Campus, University of Ghana.
With extensive experience in financial accounting, audit, tax, management accounting, and forensic accounting, Mr. Oduro has worked with a number of esteemed institutions, including Kristo Asafo Mission, Rabito Clinic, and Vevo (Shell) Ghana Limited, where he participated in a management training program. His professional journey also includes a stint at Standard Chartered Bank, further enriching his expertise in finance. He continues to contribute his skills to the healthcare sector as an Accountant, Company Secretary, Director, and Shareholder at Quantum Medical Centre and Eye Clinic.
As a seasoned Tax and Financial Consultant, Mr. Oduro has worked with a wide range of businesses, including forex bureaux, clinics, hotels, schools, sachet water companies, advertising firms, and cold storage companies, providing them with expert advice on tax and financial management. He holds certification as a Professional Forensic Accountant and is a member of the Institute of Certified Forensic Accountants (USA and Canada). In addition, he is a Chartered Credit Professional and Certified Credit Administrator from the Chartered Institute of Credit Management, Ghana.
Mr. Oduro’s contributions to professional education are remarkable. He has taught and lectured across several institutions, including Methodist University College, the Chartered Institute of Certified Tax Accountants, Chartered Institute of Marketing (Ghana), and the Chartered Institute of Credit Management, Ghana. His expertise covers a broad range of subjects, including forensic accounting and auditing; criminology & fraud examination; taxation, tax law and tax audit & special investigations; financial reporting; credit risk & management; and advanced forensic law & criminal investigations. At his alma mater, the Chartered Institute of Tax, Law, and Forensic Accountants, he delivers lectures on the above courses impeccably.
His excellence in teaching was recognized during his tenure at the Chartered Institute of Marketing, Ghana, where he taught from 1998 to 2004, winning the “Best Lecturer Award” in 2002 for his commitment to education. His academic and professional achievements further highlight his ability to combine theoretical knowledge with practical applications in the field of accounting, finance, and law.
As a visionary and entrepreneur, Mr. Oduro is the founder of the Chartered Institute of Tax, Law, and Forensic Accountants, Ghana. The Institute is unique in the West African sub-region for its specializations in cyber security & digital forensics; financial crimes; forensic accounting and auditing; criminology & fraud examination; taxation, tax law and tax audit & special investigations; among others. Under his leadership, the Institute has grown significantly, with its campus located formerly at Wisconsin University College and Institute of Local Government Studies in Accra.
In addition to his work in accounting and forensic studies, Mr. Oduro has a background in journalism and linguistics. In 2006, he launched the Baro Media newspaper as a pilot project, focusing on business technology and personality profiles. His keen interest in media and business technology reflects his diverse skills and intellectual curiosity. His versatility is further evident in his role as the Chief Finance Officer and Business Advisor at Ghana New Ventures Competition, an NGO specializing in business plan competitions and entrepreneurship development. Mr. Oduro’s scholarly contributions include numerous research projects and reports, such as studies on tax compliance behavior, financial administration in local government, and the performance of private tertiary education in Ghana. His expertise extends to international finance, information technology, cybercrimes, and digital forensics. He is a sought-after commentator and analyst on business, economics, and politics, regularly appearing on radio and television to share his insights.
A dedicated youth and national development activist, Mr. Oduro is passionate about fostering entrepreneurship and tax awareness in Ghana. His advocacy for tax compliance and ethical business practices has positioned him as a leading voice in the country’s economic and financial sectors.
